What was Yukon Cornelius searching for?

A Little Christmas “The rest of the Story”….

You may be familiar with Yukon from the Original Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer special and think he was searching for valuable minerals at the North Pole. In fact his greedy behavior inspires the song “Silver and Gold”, sung by Sam the Snowman.

However, have you noticed or wondered why he would use his pick, smack the ice and then lick the end and say “Nothing”?

In the very original Rudolph which over time has gotten shortened to run commercials, Yukon finds what he is searching for near Santa’s workshop….A Peppermint Mine!!

Here’s a link that show’s the original footage where he finds what he is looking for: Yukon finds Mine !
