LOWELL — State Representative Rady Mom (D-18th Middlesex) has announced two new events celebrating the Cambodian New Year. On Friday, April 8th Representative Mom is hosting the First Annual Cambodian New Year Celebration in Lowell at the Hong Kong. On April 13th at the State House, there will be a day and evening of activities showcasing the Cambodian art, culture, music and food.
“The New Year is an event that is celebrated for three days and represents a time to reflect on the year past, prepare for the year ahead and offer thanks for all that one has.” Said Mom in a prepared statement. “This will be a unique opportunity to share our culture in the greatest public building in the country which so beautifully represents the fight for freedom and the need to preserve ethnic cultures in Massachusetts,” said Mom.
The event on April 8th in Lowell at the Hong Kong, includes a five course dinner, live music and dancing. Tickets are $25.00 per person or $250.00 per table. “We look forward for the local community to come together in Lowell, in celebration of the New Year with our neighbors, businesses and families, concluded Mom.
On April 13th, for the first time in history of Massachusetts, there will be an afternoon and evening of activities showcasing Cambodian art, culture, music, and food at the Statehouse. This event is open to the public and free of charge. A resolution will be read declaring Cambodian New Year as April 13-15. The event at 1:00-3:00 will be held in Room 350 in the Statehouse. It will continue in the Hall of Flags in the Statehouse starting at 5:30 concluding at 8:00pm.
