State Representative Rady Mom appearing on Saturday Morning Live w/ Warren Shaw yesterday addressed some of the criticism people have stated about him and his performance representing his district. I’m paraphrasing his responses and these are NOT direct word for word answers.
Does he think the criticism that he hasn’t been responsive in the past to residents of the 18th, hasn¹t returned calls or attended community events is fair? and what is he doing to “fix” that issue?
He stated he attends as many events has he can often being invited to many on the same day. He receives hundreds of emails and messages and tries to respond to all of them. Some n the Cambodian Community may not fully understand that he represents ALL of the people in the 18th district not just he Cambodian community. He also host office hours in the district which he will publicize more and can be found at The Donut Shack on Westford St. most mornings if people want to talk to him around 7:30
On WCAP radio with Ted Panos a day or two after the council meeting he said he wasn’t invited to the City Hall rally against HUN MANET, while in the SUN he stated he stated he had a scheduling conflict. Why did he not attend and in hindsight does he wish he had?
He was at another meeting and wasn’t “invited ” or ” asked” by any group or elected official to speak at the meeting. While he understands the pain many in the Cambodian community have about Hun Manet and his father, he believes that in a Democracy it is vital that we engage in open dialogue and we engage with people who we may not agree with and that while we can agree to disagree on whether it is proper to meet the Cambodian Official, he was proud of the many people in the community who did so.
Will he make any attempt to reach out to Bud Caulfield (former Mayor) after Caulfield was very critical of him?
He respects the former Mayor and considers him a role model for all he has done for the city. He did reach out has Bud mentioned on WCAP but BUD Refused. He respects John MacDonald’s work on behalf veterans and respects veterans and tries to be supportive for all veteran issues.
Rady also stated that it is a huge learning curve in being a State Representative and he is working hard to improve on his communication with his constituents , fully grasp the responsibility of his duties and appreciates the support and assistance of State Senator Donoghue, State Rep. Dave Nangle and State Rep. Tom Golden.
Dr. Khelfaoui’s Friday Letter
April 22, 2016
Please consider attending our public budget session on Monday, April 25 @ 7:15 PM. This meeting will not be held in the Council Chambers but will be held at the E.N. Rogers School TV Studio, Room 116. The Edith Nourse Rogers School has ample parking. We hope to see families, community partners and residents of Lowell in attendance.
That wad the lead in this week’s Supt. letter published on Friday. The Administration has had to make several changes in scheduling the budget presentation. Canceling last Monday’s meeting and changing the time of this Monday’s meeting.
It will be interesting to see if the proposed budget meets the strongly suggested dollar figure given by the City Manager and what the administration is proposing to deal with the fifth grade bubble and resulting space crunch.
